Hi guys, I tried for 4 months for an unlocking solution for iPhone 4. I was on baseband 3.10.01 and iOS 4.2.1. After 4 months of scratching my head and sending emails to 100's of people and closely following the over hyped iPhone dev team blog, I found a ver simple easy solution for iPhone 4 unlock. Two weeks ago my friend was on a 2 week business trip to Hongkong(HK). I thought I will give a try and started searching for gevey sim on alibaba.com and it was available for 15$(+4$ shipping).
I thought it's amazing offer and ordered two sims one for me and one for my another office colleague who was stuck for 6 months. The sim arrived along with my friend last Sunday and within 5 minutes of opening the Gevey sim shipment, I was able to perform the unlock by following three simple steps.
1) Switch off your phone and insert your sim (some cutting of the aim is required which can be easily done by yourself or go to near by local mobile shops for assistance). After cutting the sim insert it on top of the gevey aim and tray which comes along with ur gevey sim purchase.
2) Switch on your mobile, dial 112 and hang up in 2 seconds (you need not wait for the call to connect). After that switch airplane mode "on" and wait for 45 seconds.
3) Turn the airplane mode "off" and your phone indicates "no service" initially and then within seconds gevey detects the carrier and you will be connected to the carrier!!!
That's all you have to do for unlock, no complex jailbreaking, unlocking and no downloading of any software.
I initially unlocked it on iOS 4.2.1 and bb 3.10.01. I upgraded my phone to iOS 4.3.2 and now I am on baseband 4.*. Gevey sim unlocked my phone even on the upgraded software version. How cool, I thought I found some miraculous device for a mere 20$, vow!! Take a bow Gevey sim makers. Don't listen to anyone, get a gevey sim and I'd say that unlock is guaranteed.
I will review some of the "so called" problems reported on the web with Gevey sim.
1) You need to go through the initial installation process again when you loose the carrier signal
My answer: Absolutely not. The gevey sim automatically detects the signal. I can simply counter this by asking the users who reported the above problem by saying that loosing your signal is equivalent to putting the phone in airplane mode. When Gevey sim can automatically detect the carrier when u switch to airplane off mode, it can also detect your carrier after your signal was lost. Ok... Enough said, the bottom line is Gevey sim can automatically detect your carrier, you don't have to do anything.
2) Gevey sim doesn't work for me.
My answer: Most probably you wouldn't have cut your sim properly, retry by properly interposing ur sim on the gevey sim.
3) Only drawback: You have to do the 2 min installation process only when you reboot or remove your sim, which according to me is a very rare event. How many times would you reboot ur phone? My answer would be on an average probably once in a month. So, according to me this is not a problem at all when you are getting an unlocking solution for 20$.

2) Buy from applenberry.com for 35$.
